3 Overrated NFL Players in 2023

Carolina Panthers vs Washington Redskins at Fedex Field. October 14th 2018 1pm

The NFL season is just about to get underway and we are looking at three overrated players. These players have a ton of hype around them but may disappoint this season.

Justin Fields Chicago Bears

Many people hopped on the Justin Fields bandwagon during last season mostly due to his running ability, which was great. He is a gifted runner and athlete but can he be a franchise quarterback? Last season he completed 60.4% of his passes and threw 17 touchdowns with 11 interceptions. That’s not great as those numbers ranked 16th or worse, with his completion percentage being the 32nd best in a league of 32 teams. Can he carry the ball 160 times again this year? Well, he is bigger than other running QBs who have been hurt like RG3 and Trey Lance (oh wait Fields is just 5 and 4 pounds heavier than them.)

Joe Mixon Cincinnati Bengals

Mixon has gotten a pass because his team has been really good the past two seasons. A lot of people thought that the Bengals would bring in another running back to at least compete for touches with Mixon but that was not the case. It appears he will be in line for 15+ carries every week getting around 3.9 yards per carry again, good for 37th in the league last year among running backs.

DJ Moore Chicago Bears

DJ Moore is a solid wide receiver but he is not going to outright win a game for you like Justin Jefferson or Cooper Kupp can. In five years in the NFL he has never had more than four touchdown catches in a season until last year but last season he had just 63 catches and 888 yards. Now he has one of the most in-accurate quarterbacks in the league throwing to him in Justin Fields. Moore is just starting a contract worth $61 million over threes years making him the third highest-paid wide receiver in the league.
