On the last day of 2021 the two favorites came out victorious in the College Football Playoff semifinal games. Alabama handily defeated No. 4 Cincinnati to punch their way to the championship game while Georgia easily beat No. 2 Michigan to advance. While Georgia was ranked below Michigan they were still seen as the overwhelming favorite heading into the game and they proved that was to be true.
These two teams met in the SEC Championship game earlier this year as Alabama came out the winner. Alabama looked dominant in that matchup and they should be seen as the favorite going into the rematch in the National Championship game. With only one loss on the season so far Alabama has been great all year. If they play mistake free football like they usually do, they will be hard to beat here.
For Georgia to win this they will need a big performance for their quarterback Stetson Bennett. He has been solid all year but made some big mistakes including two interceptions against Alabama that hurt their chances in that game. Look for the Bulldogs to be more conservative throwing the ball downfield in this game as the turnovers won’t allow them an easy path to a win in this game.
