The NBA All Star starting lineups are set. We will look at them in this one and who was potentially snubbed for a starting spot. Interestingly, the starters are picked by a weight of 50% fan vote, 25% player vote, and 25% media vote. So you can’t blame one party for any of this.
Tyrese Haliburton and Damian Lillard were picked ahead of Jalen Brunson for a starting spot in the East. Brunson has been great, leading the New York Knicks to the 4th spot right now. He’s averaging more points than Lillard and way more points than Haliburton. People were more upset that Lillard was starting as Haliburton will be playing in Indiana for the All Star game.
With Darius Garland, Jarrett Allen, and Evan Mobley missing significant time this year Mitchell has been able to lead the Cleveland Cavaliers to an impressive record and 5th in the East. He’s the other snubbed guard in the East. Mitchell’s also 7th in the league in scoring and 3rd in the East in scoring.
In the West Kawhi Leonard could have been deserving. The main knock on Leonard are his subpar stats for a starting player in the All Star game. He’s played 40 games though this year and has the Los Angeles Clippers 3rd in the West. Leonard has been great on both sides of the ball. It’s hard to put him above LeBro or Jokic but he could have been over Durant.
