The Portland Trail Blazers hosted the Atlanta Hawks in one of the highest scoring NBA games of the year without an overtime period. The Blazers have been a disappointment this year as far as their record but Simons has played well, especially when Damian Lillard is out of the lineup. Last night on January 3rd, the Blazers were without Lillard and CJ McCollum that opened the door for him to have a big night.
Simons responded with a career high performance as he had an impressive 43 points. It was also an extremely efficient 43 points as he got there on 13-21 shooting from the field and 9-16 from three point range. He also knocked down 8-8 free throws and had seven assists in the game.
This was not only a standout performance for Simons but it resulted in a Blazers win most importantly. This was only the 14th win for the Blazers in 36 games played which has them outside of the current play-in game playoff structure.
Trae Young was equally as impressive if not more for the Hawks in this game with 56 points on 17-26 shooting from the field. He also added seven threes and 14 assists although in a losing effort.
