The Arizona Cardinals are tied for the second best record in the NFL but can they be taken seriously as legit Super Bowl contenders? Going into week 14 the Cardinals had the best record in the league at 10-2 but now have dropped two games in a row. One loss came to the Los Angeles Rams in week 14 and the other came in week 15 against the Detroit Lions.
The seven point loss to the Rams was not a huge red flag for the Cardinals as the Rams have one of the most talented rosters in the NFL and were seen as the best team in the league earlier in the year. The loss to the Lions however, should be a red flag for those believers in the Cardinals’ Super Bowl hopes. The Lions earned just their second win of the year in a blowout against the Cardinals who were fairly healthy with Kyler Murray and Chase Edmonds back in the lineup.
It will be crucial to see how the Cardinals respond the rest of the season, which only has three more games on the schedule to see if this team can make some noise in the playoffs. The Cardinals are expected to get Deandre Hopkins back for the playoffs but don’t have much team playoff experience as the franchise hasn’t played in a playoff game since 2015.
