The NFL has a ton of talented players and backup quarterbacks sometimes never get a chance to shine. Look at Jordan Love who was behind Aaron Rodgers for years before finally getting his chance this year. Here are some QBs that can break out in 2023.
Bailey Zappe New England Patriots
Mac Jones is the starter in New England despite rumors that there was a competition for the starting spot this summer. Zappe showed some promise when playing last year as a rookie and if Mac Jones and the Patriots struggle in a tough division, Zappe could be given another chance and never look back.
Kellen Mond Cleveland Browns
For now Kellen Mond is the backup to Deshaun Watson in Cleveland. The highly drafted player could be given a shot elsewhere should a team need a QB though. Mond may be cut before the season but a chance to start seems to be in the cards eventually for Mond who has stuck around and impressed enough to be a backup for a few seasons now. He has a massive arm and decent running ability.
Kyle Trask Tampa Bay Buccaneers
It seemed that Tampa Bay was going to go with their young QB Kyle Trask as the starter but they brought in Baker Mayfield. This team still has a ton of talent after losing Tom Brady and could easily make the playoffs with Mayfield. If the team is struggling they should be quick to move on from Baker and try Trask out.
