The NBA offseason has been quieter than normal with Kevin Durant and Donovan Mitchell potential trades stagnating the market. There were some big free agency signings earlier in the summer, however. Let’s look at some of the players who signed with new teams that could make a big impact.
Jalen Brunson Knicks
Brunson was by far the most impactful free agency signing this offseason. The Knicks took him from under the Mavericks’ noses after Dallas thought they finally had some good chemistry next to Luka Doncic. Brunson alone may not be enough to turn the Knicks into contenders but it could put them in the playoffs next season.
Ricky Rubio Cavaliers
Rubio actually is coming back to Cleveland where he began last season before they traded him to the Indiana Pacers for Caris LeVert. The Cavaliers were rolling early in the year with Rubio and bringing him back could get them into the playoffs this upcoming season.
Javale McGee Mavericks
Dallas has been needing a true center for a while now. McGee has been really good in the past few years in a reserve role but will finally get the chance to start with Dallas. He should fit in really nicely with Doncic and the Mavericks.
