Brittney Griner Faces 5-10 Years in Russian Prison

WNBA star Brittney Griner has been detained in Russia due to the fact that she had cannabis oil cartridges in her luggage. Customs at an airport near Moscow searched and found this in possession of Griner.

While cannabis is legal in a lot of states in the United States, in Russia, it can face huge penalties. The maximum sentence for this offense is up to 10 years in prison while a common sentence can even be up to five years.

There has been no update on the ongoings of what the WNBA and the USA are doing to get one of their star players and most famous women’s basketball players home.

Brittney Griner’s wife, Cherelle, posted a picture on her Instagram saying, “I love my wife wholeheartedly, so this message comes during one of the weakest moments of my life. I understand that many of you have grown to love BG over the years and have concerns and want details. Please honor our privacy as we continue to work on getting my wife home safely.”
