Can Morant Still Lead Memphis?

Ja Morant has been in the news a few times recently for things that a star NBA player does not want to be in the news for. First it was the allegations against him that he beat up a minor and threatened him with a gun, then it was that he was flashing his gun’s laser sight in an opposing NBA team’s bus, and finally he was in a strip club with a gun live on Instagram.

This is headline news because Morant is one of the best young stars in the NBA and the Memphis Grizzlies are getting really close to the playoffs where they will likely be a second or third seed in the Western Conference. Many people expected this team to compete for a championship this season after giving Golden State arguably their best playoff series on their way to a Finals victory last year.

Ja Morant has now missed nine games straight following his leave of absence and suspension from the NBA. He is slated to make his return to the court on Wednesday against the Houston Rockets. This will give him some time to get back with his team and assimilate back into his role as the star for this team who still has championship aspirations this season.
