Can Wilson Take the Jets to the Playoffs?

Zach Wilson didn’t think he was going to have to play this season. After four plays he was thrust into the starting spot and has been there ever since. He helped the Jets get a win over Buffalo as a game manager in week 1 but then struggled severely the next two weeks.

In week 4 he showed some of what he could do, although it was in a loss to Kansas City. If there was ever such thing as a good loss, this was one of them. Wilson completed 72% of his passes and threw for 245 yards with two touchdowns and no interceptions. The Jets also had numerous penalties go against them and some non calls as well down the stretch. This one easily could have gone the other way.

New York seemed so close to replacing Wilson and this game may have just saved his starting spot. Making the playoffs is no easy task however, especially in the AFC East. The Jets will have to chase one of either Miami or Buffalo just for a wildcard spot. At this point there is little hope for them to win the division but a wildcard berth is not out of the question.

The Jets are just 1-3 but two playoff teams right now are 2-2. Week 5 is a massive game against the Denver Broncos who just almost lost to what people are calling the worst team in the NFL, the Chicago Bears. That game is a must win and honestly if they do lose and Wilson plays bad in that game it may be a wrap for him. The Jets’ game following the Broncos game is against Philadelphia and this season could be lost if they lose to Denver next week then Philadelphia to fall to 1-5.
