Carolina Panthers Eyeing a Quarterback in the Draft

Panthers at Redskins 10/14/18

Three quarterbacks visited the Panthers on April 12th. These three were Malik Willis, Matt Corral, and Desmond Ridder. After the NFL draft was not expected to have many quarterbacks taken early, all three of these QBs plus Kenny Pickett are expected to go in the first round.

The Panthers possess the sixth overall pick and may be the only team to take a quarterback in the top 15. Many expect Malik Willis to be the first quarterback selected but others have Kenny Pickett going first too. Corral and Ridder are not expected to be taken until late in the first round to early in the second.

Carolina also has the option to trade back in the draft if they like Corral or Ridder. After the Panthers, the next team projected to take a quarterback in many mock drafts is New Orleans at pick No. 19.

Are any of these quarterbacks better than who the Panthers already have in Sam Darnold though? Or could the Panthers trade a sixth round pick and get Jimmy G or Baker Mayfield while keeping their sixth overall pick?

There are certainly many questions around what the Panthers will do with the sixth pick in this year’s NFL Draft.
