Celtics Offering Brown and More for Durant

The Boston Celtics made it all the way to the NBA Finals for the first time since 2010. The core of their team was built around Jaylen Brown, Jayson Tatum, and Marcus Smart. Brown may have been the best of the three in the finals.

On Monday July 25th, it was reported that the Celtics offered Brown and Derrick White for Kevin Durant. The Nets declined this offer and wanted additional first rounds picks plus another player.

Brown has played his entire career for Boston since he was drafted by them in 2016. The Celtics had finally built something around him Tatum and Smart before he was involved in this trade rumor.

It is likely that this trade involving Brown never goes through, but now it could damage the relationship between him and the franchise.

Durant would likely be an upgrade over Brown as many people see Durant as at least a top three player in the league still, while Brown is more commonly thought of as a top-20 player. The fit though could prove to be not as good or potentially superior having Durant alongside Tatum.

Boston is reportedly enamored with the idea of the Tatum, Durant pairing. While their initial offer wasn’t good enough for Brooklyn, it is possible that Boston has another offer coming that better entices the Nets.
