Crazy 50-Point NBA Games

Malachi Flynn scored 50 points in an NBA game last night for the Detroit Pistons and most casual fans don’t even know who he is. This got us wondering about some of the most random and weird players to score 50 points in an NBA game.

Malachi Flynn

This one was definitely weird. Flynn has been a career-backup player. He has been in the league now for four years and had never scored even 30 points until last night. This is also his third team that he’s been on just this season. In this game Cade Cunningham was ruled out right before the start but Flynn still came off of the bench. In 34 minutes he scored 50 points.

Corey Brewer

This one was a shocker. Brewer was a longtime-NBA player but always was a role player whose role wasn’t to score, it was to hustle and defend. In one of the final games of the season in 2014, Brewer played 45 minutes in a game where Minnesota had just 8 players. He scored 51 points and had 6 steals. Brewer was a good player who played 13 seasons in the NBA. He even averaged 32 minutes per game in a season but never averaged over 13 points for a full year.

Brandon Jennings

People didn’t know if Jennings was going to be good in the NBA but he had a strong start to his rookie year. The 10th pick in 2009 scored 55 points in just his seventh game. Jennings went on to have five more quality years in the league before bouncing around teams for five more years without a real role on any of them.
