NFL quarterback Deshaun Watson has infamously been in the news for his legal troubles. Despite not being convicted of anything yet, the NFL has made a decision on what his suspension from the league will be next year.
Watson has been suspended for the first six games of the regular season.
That is the minimum that most people believed he would get as some people had speculated he could be suspended for the entire season.
This short of a suspension automatically puts the Cleveland Browns back as contenders in the AFC North. The NFL has expanded to a 17-game regular season so a suspension for just six games, or roughly 35% of the games is not that much.
Right now Cleveland plans to go with Jacoby Brissett as their starting quarterback for the first six games. If they can win just half of those games and Watson can win six or seven out of 11 of the remaining games, it could set them up for the playoffs.
The Browns are the most talented they have been in years with Watson along with new wide receiver signee, Amari Cooper. The defense also is as strong as ever with Jadaveon Clowney and Myles Garrett.
Cleveland will be one of the more interesting teams to watch next year in the NFL.
