The Memphis Grizzlies are one of the hottest teams in the NBA. They have won 10 games in a row including beating the team with the best record in the league in the Golden State Warriors for their 10th straight win.
This team is led by Ja Morant, who is averaging 25 points per game, which is six points higher than his average last season. Morant clinched the game with an and-one layup with just under 30 seconds remaining and then hilariously didn’t high five a kid wearing a Steph Curry jersey in the Grizzlies arena.
Not many big roster additions were made by the Grizzlies in the offseason, but a swap of starting centers with the New Orleans Pelicans has helped them defensively. They acquired Steven Adams in that deal, who doesn’t score at the same rate as who they gave up in Valanciunas, but he can defend the rim much better and has proved to be a better fit.
The Memphis Grizzlies are now 15 games above .500, and have a current record of 29-14. That is good enough for the current fourth seed in the Western Conference. This team is for real this year after making just the eighth seed in last season’s playoffs. They are much improved and should make some noise in the 2022 playoffs.
