Klay Thompson hadn’t played in an NBA game in 941 days. For that period of time he was rehabbing an injury that he sustained in the 2019 NBA Finals loss to the Toronto Raptors. Last year for the Warriors was a lost year due to the injury to Klay where he missed the entire season and the Warriors also had injuries to Steph Curry and Draymond Green. This season the Warriors are back as one of the West’s top teams and adding in Klay will only help.
On Sunday, January 9th Klay Thompson made his return to NBA action at home against the Cleveland Cavaliers. Klay had 17 points in just 19 minutes with three three pointers. But to really show the fans he was back he hit the Cavaliers with a crossover and poster dunk in the second quarter.
The Warriors will likely continue to ease Klay back into the lineup as he only played 19 minutes in this contest. They can afford to ease him back into the lineup as the Warriors are currently the first place team in the West and have the NBA’s best record. Klay will make the biggest impact on the court in the playoffs for the Warriors as they look to make another run at an NBA championship this season.
