Manchester city afforded themselves some breathing space by opening a significant seven-point gap over third-placed Leicester edging them by a late goal from substitute Gabriel Jesus in a hard-fought contest at the Kings Power Stadium. Gabriel Jesus came off the bench in closing minutes to salvage the three points sparing strike partner Sergio Aguero blushes following his penalty miss. City have had a poor return from the 12-yard spot-kick this term after failing to score from each of their last four premier league penalties awarded, with each being missed by a different player( Aguero, Gundogan, Raheem, Jesus)
A second win in a row for city serves them well by boosting their morale particularly now as they prepare for a visit to Santiago Bernabeu for the European Championship competition.
