Manchester City wins third consecutive Carabao Cup

Man City put on a hard fight to win the third consecutive Carabao Cup in a hard-fought 2-1 victory over Aston Villa at the Wembley Stadium. It was the fifth EFL Cup triumph in seven seasons for the sky blues. City played with intensity, demonstrating an incredible passion for winning trophies, a character Pep Guardiola was hired to develop. City’s record goalscorer Kun Aguero opened the scoring in the 20th minute as City dominated the first half finishing from close in before Rodri added another goal from wrongly awarded corner. Being without their most complete defender Aymeric Laporte who got injured in their mid-week win over Madrid, City looked uncomfortable at the back and they got punished when John Stones slip led to Mbwana Samatta heading in a consolation goal four minutes to the half time that created a lot of tension on both sides.

Man City has now won six domestic trophies out of the seven winnable, a record delived from their insatiable hunger for trophies.
