Nazem Kadri Signs with the Calgary Flames

Nazem Kadri has been one of the top players in the NHL the past few seasons. Last year he won the Stanley Cup title with the Colorado Avalanche and he was looking to get paid.

Kadri ended up getting a great deal from the Calgary Flames for seven years and $49M in total.

Last year was one of the best for the 31-year-old Kadri. He scored 28 goals and set a personal best for assists in a season where he had 59 and also had a career-best season in points with 87 in the 71 regular-season games he played for the Colorado Avalanche last year.

The Avalanche will miss Kadri’s play and leadership on the ice. He spent the last three seasons there after playing the first nine with the Toronto Maple Leafs.

Calgary had a good year last season as they beat Dallas in seven games to advance past the first round of the playoffs before running into Edmonton, who beat them in five games.

Kadri should be a great piece to add to this team as he is a veteran who can bring championship experience. The ability to set up his teammates for goals was imperative to Colorado’s success last season on their way to the cup.
