NBA Award Predictions

The NBA tips off Tuesday, October 24th. Let’s look at some of our predictions for the major awards this season.

MVP

Nikola Jokic seemed uninterested in making a run at MVP last season and may score less with a healthy Jamal Murray this year. Joel Embiid also seems like an uninspiring pick after winning it last year as there was some controversy around him winning it. This leads to Giannis Antetokounmpo who now has Damian Lillard on his team. The Bucks could easily have the most regular-season wins and Giannis may see different defenses this year with Dame on his team.

The pick – Giannis Antetokounmpo

Rookie of the Year

There was some hype around Chet Holmgren winning the award this offseason but Victor Wembanyama has looked terrific in the preseason. He not only looks like he could be a force on offense but on defense he has been blocking everything. It may be hard to knock off the favorite for the award for Chet or Scoot Henderson in Portland.

The pick – Victor Wembanyama

Defensive Player of the Year

The rookie Victor Wembanyama has made some noise this preseason as a potential Defensive Player of the Year candidate. If you beleive the hype, he could get it done if healthy and the blocks are there. Many people think he could lead the NBA in blocks. Jaren Jackson Jr. is the pick here though and if he leads the Grizzlies to the playoffs

The pick – Jaren Jackson Jr.
