NBA Finals Preview

The 2024 NBA Finals is upon us. In the Western Conference the Dallas Mavericks have emerged from a groups of some of the most-talented teams in the league. In the Eastern Conference the Boston Celtics came out as frontrunners after not seeing much competition on their path to the finals. Overall, these two teams should be in for a good series.

How the Dallas Mavericks can win it

Dallas lives and dies with their two superstars, Luka Doncic and Kyrie Irving. If those two are shutdown or are struggling, this team will struggle to score the ball. The Dallas defense is elite with two of the top rim protectors in Daniel Gafford and Derrick Lively as well as some standout perimeter defenders like Derrick Jones Jr. and Josh Green. For Dallas to win, these players will have to play as a unit defensively against a deep Boston team. The Mavs will also need role players to hit threes like PJ Washington, Jones Jr. and others off the bench.

Boston isn’t one of the deepest teams in the league, but they get it done with what they have. Outside of their starting five they have a veteran in Al Horford off the bench as well as shooters Sam Hauser and Payton Pritchard. Their starting five is possibly the best unit in the league though. Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown are two big wing scorers and Jrue Holiday and Derrick White are two of the best defending guards who are also great playmakers along with a presence down low in Kristaps Porzingis. Boston just has to keep their foot on the pedal to win this.

Prediction: Boston wins in 6 games. They have too much depth and too many standout defenders and playmakers all over the floor.
