NBA Most Improved Player Candidates

Every year there are break out stars in the NBA. Let’s look at these specific players who are in for huge years and could be in the running for the Most Improved Player of the Year.

LaMelo Ball Hornets

Many people may say that Ball doesn’t have much room to improve. That may be the case as he averaged 20 points per game last season with 7.6 assists per game. People forget though that Ja Morant had a similar second year and then went from 19 points per game to nearly 28. Ball could be in for a similar trajectory as Charlotte will be without Miles Bridges and his 20 points per game. Morant won the award last year.

Jalen Brunson Knicks

Brunson scored 16 points per game last season with Dallas. He was clearly the No. 2 or lower option after Luka Doncic and didn’t even start in 18 games. Now he could be the No. 1 option in New York and may up his scoring to as high as 24 points per game, even though 20-22 would be more likely. It would also help his case if he got the Knicks back to the playoffs.

Anthony Edwards Timberwolves

A big year is expected for Anthony Edwards. He is expected to break out into a legit big-time scorer. After averaging 21.3 points per game, many people predict he could close in on 30 points per game next season. It would be a great case for MIP if the Wolves also make the playoffs.
