The NFL preseason is a crucial time for players to show they are worthy of a roster spot. Some of the biggest names in the league are not always safe. Let’s look at some players who are in danger of being cut by their respective teams.
Jimmy Garoppolo 49ers
Jimmy G has been great with the 49ers leading them on deep playoffs runs and one of the best overall records in the last few seasons with him starting. Now, he could be cut by the team to make room for the No. 3 overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft, Trey Lance. It has been rumored that they want to start Lance and trade Jimmy, but there have been no takers so far.
Josh Gordon Chiefs
The NFL career for Gordon has been up and down. He went from one of the best young players to being suspended nearly every year for marijuana. Now he is having a hard time sticking with a team due to his production. Gordon hasn’t had more than 40 catches in a season since 208 and Kansas City has brought in a ton of young wide receiver talent as well.
Myles Gaskin Dolphins
Gaskin was the leading rusher for the Dolphins last year. That doesn’t make his roster spot safe though as Miami struggled on the ground last season and they brought in three former starting running backs this offseason to compete for his spot.
