NFL week 18 is always a weird one as most teams have nothing to play for. They are either already locked in their playoff spot or eliminated. Let’s look at teams who are still fighting to make the playoffs this week that still have a chance if a few things happen for them.
The Houston Texans and rookie quarterback CJ Stroud could still win the AFC South with a win and a Jacksonville loss. If they just win their game against the Colts, they would make the playoffs regardless of what the Jaguars do.
This is do or die. Indianapolis have to beat the Texans get in and if they do they also eliminate Houston. This game could come down to how well Gardner Minshew plays. It’s the biggest game of his career.
The Steelers have the most confusing scenarios here. They could win plus have Buffalo lose OR win plus have Jacksonville lose or tie OR win plus have Houston-Indianapolis tie OR tie plus a Jacksonville loss plus Houston-Indianapolis doesn’t end in tie OR Jacksonville loss plus Denver win plus Houston-Indianapolis doesn’t end in tie. Sheesh.
Tampa Bay Buccaneers
A win in their in. OR a tie with a New Orleans loss or tie. OR a tie plus a Seattle loss plus Green Bay loss or tie.
New Orleans Saints
A win and a Tampa Bay loss or tie and they are in. They could also lose and have Green Bay and Seattle either lose or tie.
Green Bay Packers
If they win they are in. They could also lose and have a Minnesota loss or tie plus Seattle loss plus Tampa Bay loss OR a Minnesota loss or tie plus Seattle loss plus New Orleans loss.
They need to win plus get a Green Bay loss or tie.
They need to win and have a Green Bay loss plus a Seattle loss plus a Tampa Bay loss OR a Green Bay loss plus a Seattle loss plus aNew Orleans loss. There needs to be a lot of luck involved here.
