NHL Trade Deadline Winners

Colorado Avalanche

The Avalanche are one of the best teams in the entire NHL and they have their eyes on the Stanley Cup this year. They were pretty aggressive at the deadline acquiring three players. The main piece they got was Artturi Lehkonen for a second-round pick. He will be a key piece that will fit in nicely at forward for this team. They also added Josh Manson and Andrew Cogliano to add some needed depth to this roster.

Florida Panthers

They got the prize at the trade deadline in Claude Giroux. He was the most sought after player by many franchises at the deadline by many teams, including the Avalanche. Florida even managed to get him for a reasonable price. It has been said he wanted to go to Florida as well which helped them in getting him. Additionally, they got Ben Chiarot for a steeper price, but they are in win now mode like Colorado so it will pay off in the end if they can win a cup.

Montreal Canadiens

The Canadiens were not interested in acquiring win now players. Instead they were looking to ship their players out to get future prospects and picks to rebuild. Montreal did a good job of what they were out to accomplish. They sent out four players to get a load of future assets back. After a Stanley Cup appearance last year, this team was already ready to rebuild this season and it looks like they are off to a good start.
