Patrick Beverley Says Chris Paul is to Blame for Suns Loss

Patrick Beverley, who is now with the Minnesota Timberwolves, went on the Get Up with Stephen A Smith and claimed that it was Chris Paul’s fault for the Suns losing their round two NBA Playoff series to the Dallas Mavericks.

The Phoenix Suns made fairly easy work of the New Orleans Pelicans in round one. Paul was harassed all series by the defense they applied on him though. Still, they were able to win the series in six games.

The Suns looked to be in control of their second round series as well against Dallas. They were up 3-2 after a 30-point win in game five. They then lost two in a row, including suffering a 30-point game seven loss of their own.

Beverley claimed that Paul gets all of the calls on offense and non-calls on defense. He claims he should have fouled out of the game for hacking Jalen Brunson on plays that would have resulted in a flagrant one for him.

He then says that every one of the players in the NBA knows that Paul can’t guard.

Finally, his most aggressive claim against Paul states that Paul should have been taken out of the game early by Phoenix after he was unable to be effective against the defense that the Mavericks were putting on him. He said that no one in the West was afraid to play Phoenix and his Minnesota team wished they were matched up against them.

Beverley is always stirring something up, but his takes didn’t seem that outrageous this time. People just are not used to someone going after Paul and Phoenix so hard.
