Redrafting the 2021 NBA Draft

With two full seasons under their belt and nearly half of their third, we are going to do a redraft of where the 2021 NBA Draft picks would be picked now.

  1. Scottie Barnes – He won Rookie of the Year and made a big jump from a down second year to his third year. It would be hard to pass him up as he still hasn’t hit even close to his full potential most likely.
  2. Cade Cunningham – Originally the first pick, Cunningham falls one spot mostly due to his health and inability to effect winning at all so far.
  3. Alperen Sengun – Sengun was taken 16th overall. He may be the best player in this class in a couple of years. He is Jokic-like.
  4. Franz Wagner – Wagner has made a giant leap into his third year. He has been a big reason why this Magic team may earn a playoff spot for the first time since the 2019-2020 season.
  5. Evan Mobley – Mobley has been really good but not great. Cleveland likely thought he would be more of an offensive player at this point. His defense is great but he is somewhat of a liability on offense but that could change.
  6. Jalen Johnson – Johnson has made a giant leap this year. He went from a little-used player to probably the Hawks’ 3rd or 4th best player with star upside. He went 20th originally.
  7. Jalen Suggs – This pick originally at No. 4 didn’t look great until this season. Suggs may never be a star but he could easily be on an All-Defensive team this year.
  8. Trey Murphy – Unfortunately injuries delayed a potential massive breakout for Trey Murphy this season but in his second year he averaged 14.5 points and shot over 40% from three.
  9. Jonathan Kuminga – We think Kuminga is a good player but we haven’t really seen it consistently. If we were redrafting it would be hard to take him over sure things ahead of him on this list.
  10. Bones Hyland – The potential here is too good to pass up. Hyland had some great moments in Denver but as a young guy on a championship level team he was traded. Now he is kind of in a similar position on the Clippers. Potential puts him in the top 10.
