If this game is actually played in Buffalo, it could be one of the most incredible NFL playoff games ever. Over a foot of snow is expected to fall during the time when the game is played and winds over 65 miles per hour are expected. It could be anyone’s game if the game is actually played there. There have been rumors however that the game will be moved to Cleveland.
The snow is one thing but wind speeds of 65 miles per hour would completely change this game and all but remove the passing game from any playbook. Kicking and punting would also be nearly out of the question besides short field goal attempts and line-drive punts. Right now the total is at just 34.5 points with Buffalo being a 9.5-point favorite. If this game is played in Buffalo it will likely be closer than that spread.
Not many points should be scored if teams are not able to kick field goals or throw the ball much. Running the ball also drains a ton of clock as it is not being stopped as often like on incomplete passes. Fans love passing and scoring but we should be rooting for this to be played in Buffalo (if it is safe) as it would be one of the messiest and ugliest games in decades.
