James Harden requested a trade form the Los Angeles Clippers weeks ago and then publicly said that he will never play for Darryl Morey and he is a liar. Pretty crazy stuff.
Harden has requested three trades in about two years, one from Houston, then one from Brooklyn, and now from Philadelphia. He has also said that he wants to be traded to the Los Angeles Clippers but Philadelphia can trade him anywhere in the NBA they want to. Later Harden said he would play for more teams than just the Clippers, however.
The Clippers likely don’t have a good enough package to offer the 76ers, assuming they still don’t want to trade Kawhi Leonard, Paul George, or Terance Mann for anybody. There are other teams that could offer a better package for Harden that Philadelphia may be interested in.
If Toronto thinks that Harden can still lead a team like he did with Houston who was one game away from the NBA Finals just a few years ago, then they could offer an impressive package. Pascal Siakam and Scottie Barnes for Harden and De’Anthony Melton would be very enticing for the 76ers.
Philadelphia would have a huge lineup with Barnes, Siakam, Tobias Harris, and Joel Embiid all in the starting five. Toronto would build a team around Harden instead of paying an unproven Barnes a ton of money next year and would still have a solid starting lineup.
