This Thursday night we have a somewhat random but intriguing NFL matchup between the Jacksonville Jaguars and the New Orleans Saints. This game will be played in Jacksonville and the Saints are the early favorites in a game with a low points total around 40.
When looking at these teams on paper, it appears that they both have good and defenses. The Saints have the 6th best pass defense and the 9th best run defense while the Jaguars have the 6th best run defense. Looking more into it you will find that the Saints haven’t played any good quarterbacks. They’ve played Tennessee, Carolina, Green Bay, Tampa Bay, New England, and Houston. The Jaguars have a highly ranked run defense but their pass defense is last in the NFL.
The question in this game will be if Trevor Lawrence will play or not. If he does play we could see a high-scoring affair. Jacksonville has a talented offense but we haven’t seen that much so far this season. We are still waiting for a break out game for the Jaguars and this could be it.
Last week for the Saints the passing game exploded. Derek Carr showed that he still has it, throwing for 353 yards. This Saints defense could expose the Jaguars last-ranked-pass defense here again.
This game is expected to be close and low scoring but we could see these teams take a step forward offensively. IT should be a good one to tune in for.
