Top NBA Prospects Struggle in Tournament

The NCAA Tournament is off and running but the top college prospects for the upcoming 2024 NBA Draft have really struggled. There are just three college players expected to be drafted in the top 8 in this draft. Let’s look at how they have been playing.

Reed Sheppard Projected No. 3 Overall

The freshman from the Kentucky Wildcats put together a solid season heading into the tournament. He had some massive games this year including 32 points against Mississippi State and 27 against Tennessee, both in wins. As a three seed, Kentucky were obvious favorites to win in the first round. They lost and Sheppard had one of his worst games in his college career with just three points on 1-5 shooting.

Rob Dillingham Projected No. 4 Overall

Another Freshman from Kentucky had a less-than-stellar tournament performance. He and Sheppard are now done after getting upset in the first round. Off the bench he shot just 2-9 from the field in 26 minutes.

Cody Williams Projected No. 6

We don’t know if Cody Williams isn’t all the way right or has just really been struggling. He missed all Colorado’s games in late February and early March with an injury when they went on their winning streak to even get in the tournament. Now, he is playing off the bench and in limited minutes. In his last four games he has failed to eclipse nine points.
