Victor Wembanyama made his NBA debut in the Summer League in Las Vegas on Friday, July 7th. His first outing was less than ideal as he was stumbling around and shot just 2-13. The second appearance for Wembanyama was far more impressive.
In his second ever NBA game Victor Wembanyama had 27 points shooting 9-14 from the field and snatched 12 rebounds with 3 blocks as well. He had some nice dunks that got the crowd going but also showed his skill with a few jump shots and continued to look like a big factor on defense.
This performance should ease the thoughts of him being a bust for NBA and Spurs fans after his first game. There wasn’t much defenders could do to stop him from dunking or shooting a jumper whenever he wanted in his second game. It still looks like he needs to adjust to how physical and strong the players are, even Summer League, but this was a great showing.
There is a chance that we get to see Victor Wembanyama in the Summer league again in a couple of days or he could be shutdown until the NBA season officially starts. Either way, it was great to see him have a dominant performance, which is what everyone was expecting from him.
