There is a lot that goes into power rankings in the NFL. Let’s take a look at why we have these three teams at the top after week 1.
1. Philadelphia Eagles
With the Kansas City Chiefs losing their first game they also lose the No. 1 spot. Insert Philadelphia who lost just four regular season games last year and narrowly lost the Super Bowl. They could be even better this year. The Eagles beat the Patriots in week 1 and have possibly an even better roster than last year’s team.
2. San Francisco 49ers
After making it to the NFC Championship game last year only to have their three quarterbacks be injured, they look even better this season. Week 1 was a matchup that was supposed to be close with Pittsburgh but it never was. The 49ers dominated. This team has brought back nearly everybody and is healthy with Brock Purdy at QB who looks great. It should come down to the Eagles and them again in the NFC.
3. Baltimore Ravens
People may have forgotten how good the Baltimore Ravens are. With Kansas City and Buffalo losing, this team is at the top of the AFC power rankings. Last year this team still managed to make the playoffs without Lamar Jackson at the end of the year and almost upset the Bengals in the Wildcard. Now, with Jackson back, they should be seen as one of the top teams early in the season.
