NBA free agency has been extremely active so far, yet some of the best veteran big men remain unsigned. These players likely have more to offer an NBA team and could be signed before the season as a crucial back up. We guess where some of these players will end up for the start of next season below.
DeMarcus Cousins Warriors
It wasn’t too long ago that people around the NBA said that DeMarcus Cousins was the best center in the league. In the past couple of years he has struggled to stay on a team however. Last season he proved to be valuable as a backup to Nikola Jokic in Denver. He does all the same things as Jokic but just not as good. He could end up back there, but there are rumblings that a reunion with Golden State is more likely as he can shoot, pass, and be a mentor to James Wiseman showing him what not to do.
Blake Griffin Clippers
Griffin was another player like Cousins who was talked about as the best power forward in the NBA just a few years ago. Now, he looks to be struggling to find suitors after a season where he got benched by the Nets for a lot of the last season. Griffin still has some athleticism left and can shoot threes decently now as well. The Clippers could use a back up big man as they don’t have much besides Zubac at center.
Dwight Howard Nets
The Nets signed their young center Nicholas Claxton to a new deal, and Howard would be a perfect mentor for him. Howard also still has above-average athleticism for a center and can give them good back up minutes to Claxton. He was also one of the best centers in the league but probably 10 years ago now.
