The NBA play-in games were implemented last season. They make for a fun single game series to determine the final two seeds in each conference. The first games feature the seventh and eighth seed and then the ninth and 10th seed facing off. The winner of the seven-eight game moves on to the playoffs as the seventh seed. The loser of the seven-eight game will play the winner of the ninth and 10th seed game for the final spot in the playoffs.
7. Minnesota Timberwolves
8. LA Clippers
9. New Orleans Pelicans
10. LA Lakers
11. San Antonio Spurs – 0.5 back of 10th
12. Sacramento Kings – 4 back of 10th
As of right now, the Lakers are in the play-in game. But barely, by just 0.5 games. With Anthony Davis and Lebron coming back this weekend, they should be able to hold their spot in the play-in. Two teams creeping up are the Spurs and Kings. Both of those teams have no business being in the playoffs but they have been hot recently.
6. Toronto Raptors
7. Cleveland Cavaliers – 2 back of 6th
8. Brooklyn Nets
9. Charlotte Hornets
10. Atlanta Hawks
11. NY Knicks – 5.5 back of 10th
12. Washington Wizards – 6 back of 10th
The race in the East is not as close as the West for the final 10th spot. It’s safe to say that the Hawks, Hornets, and Nets will be in the play-in. The Knicks are 5.5 games back and the Wizards are 6 with not much time to make that up. Cleveland has fallen to the seventh team and are now two games behind Toronto for the sixth seed. They should make a push to get the sixth seed and that could definitely happen if they can get back healthy with Mobley and now LeVert being back and playing well.
