In the NFL game of the week the San Francisco 49ers took on the Cincinnati Bengals Sunday. Both teams were in a wildcard spot heading into the game and needed a win to hold their current position in the standings. It was an important game for both franchises.
This game appeared to be all San Francisco for the first three quarters of the game and as the fourth quarter rolled around it was 20 to six in favor of the 49ers. Second year quarterback Joe Burrow had been all but shut down by the 49ers defense in the game but was on a mission in the final quarter along with rookie wide receiver sensation, Ja’Marr Chase. Those two combined for two fourth quarter touchdowns and the Bengals defense shut out the 49ers to tie the game and force overtime.
In overtime the Bengals struck first but only on a field goal that left the door open for the 49ers. The combination of Jimmy G to George Kittle had been working all game and the 49ers drove down to the Bengals territory quickly. Brandon Aiyuk ended the game on a touchdown catch that was reviewed and ultimately called the game-winning score for the 49ers.
