Connor McDavid has been one of the best players in the NHL, if not the best, for a handful of years now. After eight years in the league he only has five playoff appearances to show for it with not even a sniff of the Stanley Cup Final.
As far as winning, McDavid has not experienced it, but his individual numbers and awards have been outstanding.
A player he compares to from the NBA is Kevin Durant. Durant and McDavid both were racking up individual awards and records like MVPs, league scoring records, and All Star performances. After eight seasons Durant left the team that allowed him to do that to join the Golden State Warriors who just beat him and won the NBA championship.
Durant and the Warriors went on to win that very next year. He joined an already All Star team who had won two championships in the past three seasons. McDavid could be on a similar path.
It is great to get all of the individual recognition and awards but these high-level athletes also want to win. And they could do anything to win.
A few teams that would be dominant with McDavid are the Colorado Avalanche as a duo with Nathan Mackinnon, Dallas who is still in the playoffs, or the Vegas Golden Knights. A team will need to make a trade for McDavid and he would likely need to request a trade from Edmonton.
